In times of adversity, despair, and crisis, we gather in camaraderie and enthusiasm with the courage to explore difficult parts of our humanity emotionally and existentially. The ancient wisdom tradition of Chö (Chod), Severance, revealed by Machik Labdron (11-12 century), is the practice meant for such a contemporary world of dilemmas. The practice involves the entirety of body, speech, and mind to directly cut through (chod) the root of suffering.

 

The great masters of the Ear-Whispered Lineage have carried this unique tradition with tremendous integrity and devotion despite their unimaginable challenges. The lineage has been kept alive and fresh through their realizations and blessings, and the power of transmission. Dakini’s Whisper is honored to bring the practice of this Cho lineage into our lives at a time of tremendous challenge with trust in our capacity to do as our great masters have done.

 

“Chö In A Single Sitting,” called “Chö Dentok Chikma” in Tibetan, is a rare treasure in the Ear-Whispered Lineage, a shorter Chö practice that includes the essence of Chö journey from the beginning to the end, as if it were an elixir of Cho practice. The entire practice is done with beautiful haunting melodies that have come from the dakinis and has been carried through the Machik Dakini Ear-Whispered Lineage. 

 

In conjunction with the transmission (required for this Series) that will be offered during the auspicious First Chö Monlam Prayer Festival,  Khandro-la will offer commentary and guide students to this beautiful practice in six Sangha Sunday sessions, March 21 - May 23. 

 

This series is required for Chö Mastery Journey students. All other Journey students are strongly encouraged. This will be the core Chö practice in Dakini’s Whisper this year and very suitable to the entry-level new Chö practitioners.
